Seth Meyers is the lead contender to replace Regis Philbin as Kelly Ripa's co-host on Live!, Showbiz 411 reports.
After Philbin retired in November, the show has tested out a series of co-hosts. Showbiz 411 says the list is now down to three contenders: former New York Giant Michael Strahan, Josh Groban and Meyers, with Meyers as the favorite.
Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford to reunite as co-hosts
The Saturday Night Live star has co-hosted Live! on various occasions and is set for a weeklong run starting Monday.
A rep for Live! declined to comment on any co-host speculation and an email to Meyers' rep was not immediately returned.
If Meyers does get the job, he could still do "Weekend Update" on SNL, but would likely have to resign as head writer, the site says. Meyers has been on SNL since 2001 and was promoted to head writer in 2006 after Tina Fey's exit.
Do you think Seth Meyers is right for the job? Or would you prefer Michael Strahan or Josh Groban — or someone else?
