When it comes to a season finale, "Revenge" certainly delivered in a big way. The last episode of the first season delivered a number of shocking moments as it wrapped up several storylines. It also started to set up Emily's next mission by revealing that her mother was still alive. Though that cliffhanger at the end was a big one, the real shock involved the Grayson family. Both female members are potentially dead in what has to be the most enthralling final 10 minutes of a show in a long time. Here is a review of the "Revenge" season finale.
Ever since the show began, fans had to wonder how long they could possibly drag out a quest for revenge against the Grayson family. As the season progressed, some angles with the evil family might have started to feel a little stale. However, nothing could have prepared viewers for what happened at the end. Victoria Grayson, easily the second main character on the show, apparently died in a plane crash on her way to testify against her estranged husband. Meanwhile, a devastated Charlotte overdosed on pills, and might have met her gruesome end, as well. Knowing this show, there is a chance that neither is really dead. Odds are that at least one is still alive, and the most likely candidate is Victoria. But if she is in fact dead, "Revenge" will have given fans one of the most shocking TV deaths ever.
The fate of the Grayson women wasn't the only shocking moment. Emily and Daniel ended their romance, and the younger Grayson seems determined to carry on the evil legacy of his family. Meanwhile, Amanda returned just as Emily was about to reveal the truth to Jack. To make things even more complicated, she is pregnant. With the Grayson family in chaos and her love lost, Emily seems lost. That is when Nolan shows up to reveal the conspiracy against her father goes far beyond the Grayson family. The real culprit is Americon Initiative, and they have something to do with the disappearance of Emily's mother. It looks like the mystery is set for the second season.
It is hard to imagine this show having a better finale. If anyone was wondering where this show would go in a second season, that question was answered in brilliant fashion. After being reminded that Emily is really a human being with feelings, her quest for revenge looks like it will be as intense as ever. This episode had plenty of shocking moments and did a nice job of tying things up, but it also should have viewers pumped for next season. What is the deal with Americon Initiative and Emily's mom? What will become of Jack and Amanda, and how did she escape from Takeda? What is the fate of the Grayson family, and what role will they in Season 2? "Revenge" deserves credit for not only satisfying everyone with a strong finale, but also stirring the pot for next season.
