The "Revolution" episode "Soul Train" opens with a shirtless Captain Tom Neville boxing with his men. After beating each of his men in turn, Tom then turns his attention to Danny. Danny refuses to fight back, and Neville tells him that he's got to toughen up.
A flashback to the day of the blackout reveals that Neville was once a softer, kinder man. As an insurance adjuster, he was fired for giving a family too much money after their house burned. But even then, he took out his aggression on a punching bag in the basement of his house. Only when his home was invaded after the blackout did Tom hit another person with his hands.
After burying Maggie, Charlie and the gang resume their hunt for Danny. They arrive in a small town with a working locomotive. The plan is to put Danny on that train tomorrow and send him to Philly in order to force Rachel to talk. The group splits up to search the town for where Danny is being held. However, while walking around town, Charlie is spotted by Tom Neville. Tom engages Charlie in a struggle, which Miles breaks up. Now understanding that Charlie is Danny's sister, Tom gets into a knife fight with Miles. Tom asks Miles why he left the militia, and Miles says Tom wouldn't understand. When reinforcements arrive, Miles runs off while Tom goes to move Danny to a more secure location.
Tom gets the train to leave ahead of schedule with Danny on board. Nora and her rebel contact Hutch create a makeshift bomb by filling a hollow log with black powder: When the log hits the furnace, it will blow up. But when Nora sees that Danny is on the train, she tries to retrieve the log so that Danny won't be killed. Hutch stabs Nora for her infidelity to the cause, but the wound is not fatal.
Miles and Charlie steal a pair of horses, which they use to catch up to the train. Miles sets off to find the log bomb, while Charlie aims to find Danny. Danny tackles Tom to the ground when he sees Charlie looking in through the window. Charlie tries to fight Tom, as well, but he's too strong for her. Thankfully, Danny hits him over the head, but then Tom grabs Danny and holds him at gunpoint. Nate restrains Charlie, but throws her out of the moving train to escape Tom. Miles jumps off the train after disposing of the log, and Charlie and Miles stare at the train as it chugs off into the distance.
Afterward, they meet up with a wounded Nora and a frustrated Aaron. Charlie, hardened by her weeks on the road, has no time to mourn their failure. She organizes their team, and they start walking toward Philly.
Meanwhile, the train pulls into Philly. Tom's wife meets him at the station, and it's revealed that Nate's real name is Jason; he's Tom's son. Elsewhere in the city, Rachel tells Monroe about the pendants. There are 12 of them, and they are what Monroe needs to start turning the lights back on.
