Robbie Amell To Star In ‘Tomorrow People’, Ryan Hansen In ‘Bad Teacher’, Kim Dickens In ‘Second Sight’, ABC’s ‘Reckless’ Adds 2

Robbie Amell has landed the lead role in the CW drama pilot The Tomorrow People. Written/exec produced by Phil Klemmer based on the cult British series, exec produced by Julie Plec and Greg Berlanti and directed/exec produced by Danny Cannon, Tomorrow People revolves around several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution and work together to defeat the forces of evil. Amell, repped by ICM Partners, Coast To Coast and Protege Entertainment, will play Stephen, a tormented man who longs to be normal and is relieved when he learns that he’s not crazy but rather part of a group of genetically superior “Tomorrow People.”

Party Down and Veronica Mars alum Ryan Hansen will co-star opposite Ari Graynor in Bad Teacher, CBS’ single-camera comedy series adaptation of the 2011 movie. Written by Hilary Winston, directed by Don Scardino and produced by the film’s Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, the pilot centers on hot, confident, unapologetic former trophy wife Meredith Davis (Graynor), who becomes a teacher to find a new man after her husband leaves her without a dime. Gersh-repped Hansen will play the shorts-wearing athletics coach at the school, a version of the character played in the movie by Jason Segel. He recurs on CBS’ 2 Broke Girls and was the lead in Fox’s comedy pilot El Jefe last season.

Treme’s Kim Dickens has been cast opposite Jason Lee in Second Sight, CBS‘ drama pilot from Michael Cuesta and Carol Mendelsohn. Based on the 2000 British series, Second Sight is a gothic psychological thriller about Tanner (Lee), the lead detective with the New Orleans Police Department who is concealing a troublesome secret — he has an ocular disorder that causes him to have horrifying and visually stimulating anxiety dreams and hallucinations. Gersh-repped Dickens will play Sammy, a detective on the right-knit team. Cuesta is directing the pilot from a script he wrote with his brother Gerald. Michael Cuesta, Mendelsohn, Julie Weitz, Paula Milne and Nick Reed exec produce.

Ashton Holmes (Revenge) and Lou Taylor Pucci have been cast in ABC’s drama pilot Reckless. Written/exec produced by Chris Black and directed/exec produced by Martin Campbell, the thriller centers on David, a resourceful problem solver who, when his wife Sarah (Eloise Mumford) is unjustly imprisoned during a political uprising overseas, resorts to entering a world of political intrigue, dangerous alliances and high emotional stakes in order to get her out. Holmes will play Wyatt, an acquaintance of David’s from college who puts him in contact with a mercenary. Pucci plays Ryan, Sarah’s brother.
