Now that it has been announced the third season of "Game of Thrones" will only deal with half of the material of the third book in Martin's series, it's time to think about what scenes we would like to see in the new season. Here are some scenes that would make for an excellent third season. Warning: spoilers follow.
The red wedding
This scene, arguably one of the best written scenes in the history of fantasy literature, would certainly make a great addition to the series, and there seems no doubt that the show's writers could certainly bring it to life in a powerful way. Furthermore, it would make a great addition to the third season in that it would really help the season to go out with a bang, providing the ratings boost that occurred during the titanic battle scene at the end of last season. We'll keep our fingers crossed.
Along the same lines, it would also be interesting to see this scene brought to life. Although the reader never actually sees the process by which Lady Stark is brought back to life by the kiss of fire, this would help to make up for the disappointment some felt at the rushed feeling of Renly's death (and provide a counterpoint to the very creepy birth of Melisandre's shadow-child). It would also be an incredibly emotional scene to see this character brought back to life after a seeming death.
Now that Joffrey has proven that he is the most evil teenager ever, it's time that we see him make his grand and very well-timed exit from the scene. Sure, he has made quite an impression on the series, and it truly is fun hating someone as much as we hate him, but that can only go so far. After all, his death is one of the pivotal events in the series, so hopefully we will get to see it in the third season, rather than having to wait until the fourth.
Clearly, the writers are probably not going to put all of these scenes in the third season, as they no doubt want to save up as much as possible for the fourth and subsequent seasons. However, depending on how they decide to split the story, we could very well see these very important, one might say most important, scenes that have yet occurred within the body of the series.
