Scott Pictures Boards Natalie Portman's "Jane Got a Gun" and Launches New Sales Arm

Producer Scott Steindorff and his new production firm Scott Pictures announced Tuesday that they have developed a new sales arm, Scott Pictures International, and have signed on to finance and produce the action film "Jane Got a Gun," starring Natalie Portman.

The deal is part of an overall expansion plan for Scott Pictures.

Lynne Ramsay ("We Need to Talk About Kevin") is directing "Jane Got a Gun" from a script by Brian Duffield. Set to start shooting in early 2013, "Jane Got a Gun"  is a Western that  centers on a woman who must ask an ex-lover for help in order to save her outlaw husband from a gang that is out to kill him.

Reports surfaced on Monday suggesting that Michael Fassbender was in talks to play the ex-lover, but a rep for the actor told TheWrap that this is not true

Portman's Handsomecharlie Films banner, Terry Dougas of 1821, and Chris Coen are serving as producers on the film. Brillstein Entertainment Partners' Aleen Keshishian will executive produce the film with 1821's Paris Latsis, Scott Pictures' Scott LaStaiti and Dylan Russell. Peter Nathanial, Steindorff's partner at Scott Pictures, is also financing and producing the film.

The film will be the first project to fall under Scott Pictures International (SPI), which is entering into a three-year partnership with Guy East and Nigel Sinclair's Exclusive Media.

Exclusive Media will handle the international sales and servicing for all Scott Pictures' theatrical feature film productions under this new SPI label. Launched earlier this year, Scott Pictures anticipates producing between three and five feature films per year and those will be sold through SPI, according to the deal.
