Sharon Osbourne Reveals Double Mastectomy, Calls Surgery a 'No Brainer' (Report)

Sharon Osbourne says she had a double mastectomy, calling the surgery a "no brainer" after learning she was genetically predisposed to breast cancer.

The co-host of CBS' The Talk opens up about her decision to undergo a 13-hour operation last summer in an interview with the U.K.'s Hello! Magazine (via People.com).

"As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene, I thought: 'The odds are not in my favor.' ... I decided to just take everything off," reveals Osbourne, who battled colon cancer 10 years ago.

"For me, it wasn't a big decision, it was a no brainer. I didn't want to live the rest of my life with that shadow hanging over me. I want to be around for a long time and be a grandmother to Pearl," she observes, referencing her baby granddaughter, born in April to Jack Osbourne and wife Lisa Stelly.

The 60-year-old America's Got Talent judge says her breast implants had also leaked into her stomach wall before the operation.

"I didn't even think of my breasts in a nostalgic way, I just wanted to be able to live my life without that fear all the time," she says. "It's not 'pity me', it’s a decision I made that's got rid of this weight that I was carrying around."
