It looks like the union between Sheldon and Amy is finally official on "The Big Bang Theory." The strange relationship between the two reached the next level when Sheldon felt threatened by a new love interest for Amy. That prompted him to request that she be his girlfriend. Of course, it wasn't the typical sweet moment that we usually see in sitcoms. Instead of roses and kisses, there was a relationship agreement. But I'm just happy they are together. I can't wait to see what Sheldon is like in a relationship.
When Sheldon learns that the Stuart from the comic book store is interested in Amy, he is finally forced to examine his relationship with her. Amy agrees to go out with Stuart for coffee and that sends Sheldon into a downward spiral. He resorts to common jealous acts like stalking on Facebook. He even asks Penny out on a date in an attempted to make Amy jealous. Eventually, Sheldon comes to the realization that he needs to take action. That's when the hilarious story of how Sheldon and Amy got together unfolded.
Sheldon shows up at Amy and Stuart's date at the movies to make his loving pitch to Amy. With complete ignorance to the fact that Stuart is there, Sheldon takes a roundabout route to ask Amy to be his girlfriend. First, he clarifies that he wants no changes to their relationship, physical or otherwise. Second, he asks Amy out without trying to make it seem like they will be a couple. Amy calls him out on it and eventually we hear what we thought we would never hear. Sheldon asks Amy to be his girlfriend. As only Sheldon would, he accepts her positive response and leaves Stuart and Amy to finish their date. Once Amy returns to her apartment, Sheldon is there with a relationship agreement. That was a perfect way to kick off their relationship. We haven't learned much about it yet but I hope we get periodic references just as we do with the roommate agreement.
In this episode, he Sheldon and Amy stuff was the dominant storyline. There wasn't really much going on with anyone else, though we did get to see funny moments from all of the characters. There was one other interesting moment though. When talking to Sheldon about relationships, Penny mentions that she regrets waiting to tell a guy she liked how she feels and now he is with someone else. Could she be talking about Leonard? I'm sure we will find out eventually.
