Simon Cowell & L.A. Reid Reveal Plans For New Female Judges & Two Hosts On 'The X Factor'

Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid are keeping mum on the rumors that Britney Spears, Janet Jackson or possibly even Fergie could be joining the judges' panel on "The X Factor," but they did confirm one thing - they're looking to fill the empty chairs with women.

"We will likely have two girls. That, you can probably count on," L.A. said on Wednesday as he and Simon took part in a conference call to promote "The X Factor's" open auditions, which make their first stop in Kansas City, Mo. on March 14.

And beyond the two new judges, Simon revealed there will be two new hosts coming in to replace Steve Jones, who will not return for Season 2.

"I always wanted a boy and a girl to host the show and I think that's definitely going to happen now," Simon noted. "I think it's going to make it more interesting."

Simon also addressed the lack of interest from "The Voice" and "American Idol" over his suggestion that there should be a super-final among the winners of the three shows, including "The X Factor."

"I was very disappointed with the reactions back from the other two shows," Simon said. "I like the idea of a super final, providing the contestants are up for it from the beginning. I thought it would be something different. They've both bottled it for now. I spoke with L.A., we're up for it."

"Especially if it takes place on 'The X Factor,'" L.A. chimed in with a laugh.

The Brit judge and "X Factor" boss said a super final would be an amazing competition.

"It kind of felt like it was going to be the musical Super Bowl and I loved that idea," he said, noting that without participation from the other shows, they'd have to resort to competing "at the Grammys."

"And in the charts," L.A. added.

While the judges offered no new news on who might fill Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger's seats, Simon suggested he would have an interest in working with them in the future, and with former "X Factor" host, Steve Jones.

"All of them, they've been incredibly gracious and respectful and I feel the same way about them," Simon said. "They're friends.

"There wasn't anything negative about them," Simon continued, referring to the decision to part ways with the trio. "I think there's huge opportunities for us working with them [in some way]."

They also both commented about rumors that they planned to approach Whitney Houston before her untimely death earlier this month.

"We love Whitney and we would have certainly considered it, but the truth is, it never quite came to that," L.A. said "We never had meetings about it. We both were huge fans of Whitney and both were really sad about the loss... We never really got that far, so it's not proper to comment about that."

I use to like Simon, and gave up on him with Idol. NOW that Simon is gone from Idol, I really enjoy Idol better. It seems Simon has an issue with GREED! I personally didn't like his new show X Factor, WHY? Two many lights on his stage and it was boring to watch. BIG mistake Simon Cal, you want more but your screwing up in your Greedy wanting it all. There is no wanting to come back to see ole faces but to see the on and off people leaving Simon. Change your attitude Simon and things will work better for you. Plus Greed!

It seems that since Simon has more control the actual careers of the contestants are taking off in some form. I think it's a great show and the idea of a super show is brilliant. I like it when everyone tries to work together. I think Simon's true colors are showing. I love you Simon. Thank you for giving us some great entertainment. I see the Simon channel in the near future...lol.

You know as I read the last sentence of this article and remember Simon's comments on the death of Whitney I can see what you mean. However I still think that Simon is trying to right the wrongs of his past.

As long as they're two great singers or industry women.

I won't watch it this year. There was no reason to take down Paula Abdul, except that he didn't like her cheering for a contestant he wasn't mentoring.

Hey, what about Brandy Norwood or Kandi from the Real Housewives of Atlanta. These girls have beautiful voices. I'm sure they can judge.

I enjoyed 90% of the show and had planned on watching it again, but not if Brittany Spears is going to judge OMG!! So much for that idea.

I enjoyed Paula, but I'm not too excited about the possible replacements, so I hope they come up with new names. I like the idea of a super-final with Idol and Voice and hope Simon keeps pursuing it.
