Simon Cowell Returns to American Television with 'X Factor' on September 21st

It has been over a year since Simon Cowell left "American Idol," but his long awaited return comes on September 21st with the long awaited import of the British talent show "X Factor." Simon will serve as judge alongside the other former "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul, L.A Reid and Nicole Sherzinger.

    Cowell's Television Presence

Simon Cowell was virtually unknown to American audiences until the debut of "American Idol." what started out as hatred for his honesty became a respect as "American Idol" rocketed to the top of television and Cowell's star rose.

When he left "Idol" it seemed like it would take forever for his return on "X Factor," but he continued to make his presence felt. Judge rumors kept Cowell in thew headlines and among names like Mariah Carey.

A short promo during last February's Super Bowl did not focus on the singers, format or auditions, but was merely a special effects animation of Simon himself.

The judging rumors finally reached a peak when Cowell chose to reunite with Paula Abdul, who left "American Idol" after the show's eighth season. This is going to be a huge part of the upcoming "X Factor" season as fans continue to watch the love-hate relationship between the two judges.

    X Factor Premiere

The "X Factor" premiere follows the same tradition as most talent-based reality shows. Large pools of contestants will audition for their shot on the "X Factor" show. It will be interesting to see Cowell's reactions and one-liners that he has become known for.

After not seeing him on "American Idol" it will be a fresh batch of singers who can entertain viewers and annoy Cowell along with the other judges.

    Future Schedule

According to a press release and post on MJ's Big Blog, some of the show's episodes will be delayed due to the MLB's World Series. This includes air dates on October 18th and October 25th .

If the buzz is any indication, "X Factor" aims to be just as big as "American Idol" and will introduce a new annual talent show to television.
