The Simpsons‘ Lisa is usually beside herself when cool cats show up in Springfield, but a jazz legend’s upcoming appearance will strike a sour note with the young musician.
Jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins will guest-voice himself in an episode of the Fox animated comedy, TVLine has learned exclusively.
In a spring episode titled “Whiskey Business,” Rollins appears as a hologram to Lisa when she takes exception to a “Tupac-at-Cochella”-style hologram of blues icon Bleeding Gums Murphy and starts a letter writing campaign to stop this holographic exploitation.
Rollins is a Grammy-winning jazz tenor saxophonist who has played with greats like Miles Davis, Max Roach and Thelonious Monk. He joins Season 24′s long list of guest stars, which includes Zooey Deschanel, Steve Carell, Tom Waits and Benedict Cumberbatch.
The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8/7c on Fox.
