Spring Awakening alum Andy Mientus has joined the cast of Smash for Season 2, TVLine reports.
Mientus, whose credits include the U.S. tour of Spring Awakening and an Off-Broadway revival of Carrie, will portray Kyle, a poor guy from Brooklyn who hopes to someday write for a Broadway musical. Kyle is also friends with Jimmy, played by the recently cast Jeremy Jordan of Newsies.
Jennifer Hudson heads to Smash for multi-episode arc
Mientus' casting comes days after it was announced that Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson will join the Season 2 cast for a multi-episode arc. As previously announced, Raza Jaffrey, Jaime Cepero, Brian d'Arcy and Will Chase will not be returning for Season 2.
