There have been only a few shows about the Irish mob, but there have been many episodes of various TV shows that include the Irish mob in some way. In honor of St. Patrick's Day, we have a list of five episodes involving this notorious group from some of the best shows on TV.
"The Beantown Bailout Job": "Leverage"
In the Season 2 premiere, "The Beantown Bailout Job," Nate (Timothy Hutton) saves a banker and his daughter from a car crash. Nate learns that the banker is having trouble with the Irish mob and brings the team together to con them.
"Ike Maka": "Hawaii Five-0"
"Ike Maka" involves beautiful cars and the Irish mob. Two mob hit men are out to kill a guy who is already dead introducing an interesting plot twist. The episode is also reminiscent of "Fast & Furious," showcasing Hawaii's car culture.
"3rd life": "Criminal Minds"
In "3rd life," a girl named Lindsey (Gia Mantegna) is kidnapped. The father, Jack Vaughan (Fredric Lehne), fears that the Irish mob is out to get him. The father and daughter have been in witness protection because the father, who was in the mob himself, is set to testify against the other mob members. It's not that simple, of course. A few twists and turns later, we find that the mob may not have anything to do with the kidnapping.
"The Beast in Me": "Rizzoli & Isles"
This is the episode where we find out that an Irish mobster, Patrick Doyle (John Doman), is Maura's (Sasha Alexander) father. Maura initially believes that the sample from a man killed with an ice pick has been contaminated, because it appears to have her own DNA. Her worries that she made a horrible mistake in contaminating the evidence are unfounded, however, when she realizes the dead man is actually her half brother. When the man's father comes to identify the body, he gives Maura some of his blood so she can confirm that she has just met her father.
"Gillis, Chase, and Baby Face": "The Chicago Code"
"The Chicago Code" involved the Irish mob throughout its short-lived run. "Gillis, Chase, and Baby Face," is the episode where we meet the undercover cop going by the name Liam Hennessey (Billy Lush). He works undercover for the Irish mob, feeding information about them back to the cops. He was a great introduction to the show and a very brave character to risk his life with the Irish mob every day.
