With the news that the first six winners of the series -- Kelly Monaco, Drew Lachey, Emmitt Smith, Apolo Anton Ohno, Helio Castroneves, and Shawn Johnson -- are going head to head with a half dozen runner-ups, Season 3 competitor Joey Lawrence told Us Weekly, "One mirror ball is enough. Emmitt 's doing it again. He's got two Super Bowl rings, maybe he needs two mirror balls. Why would you put [six] winners in there, ABC? What are you doing?"
"DWTS" Season 10 alum and resident coupon blogger Kate Gosselin dished on the new cast via her blog for Coupon Cabin: "I count each one to be braver than perhaps I could be to face the immense amount of fear, nerves and criticism that no doubt comes with the dancing shoes. And to do it all over again? I am amazed and impressed! My feet are sore and blistering for you already."
Gosselin also revealed that fellow Season 10 contestant Pamela Anderson will get her family's votes this season because the actress is "braver than brave because she was not a finalist in our season and is the only contestant going into Season 15 with that status."
Reality star and "DWTS" third-place finisher Melissa Rycroft told Access Hollywood: "I've already lost to two of the people I'm competing against again... it is very intimidating."
Season 1 champ Kelly Monaco told E Online she hasn't checked out her new competition. "I really haven't sized them up," she said." I'm going to have to do some homework when I get home."
But Season 2 winner Drew Lachey knows he will have some serious competition -- and not just from the other 5 winners on the cast." I think the runner-ups are definitely going to come in with a chip on their shoulder," he said. "They didn't win the first time so they feel, 'I came this close, and I wanted that mirror ball trophy!' So I think Gilles [Marini] and Joey [Fatone] are probably going to come with a little bit of an edge in that department."
Apolo Anton Ohno
Season 4 winner Apolo Anton Ohno told ESPN he had to think twice about signing on to the All-Stars cast. "I had to think about giving 100 percent and dedicating all that time," he said. "But when I heard the names of some of the other contestants, I realized that I was a great fan of many of them, and they are my friends. How could I not? I think it'll be the biggest show they've ever had." Ohno also said he hopes his notorious soul patch will "be a distraction for the others!"
And "DWTS" pro dancer Derek Hough weighed in on the casting of Bristol Palin for the All-Stars season. Derek told E Online, "Good for her -- good for her to put herself out there because it's really easy to kind of hibernate and just to disappear."
According to TV Line, Palin said, "God provides opportunities like this. I think the press is going to be talking about me no matter what, so I might as well be having fun."
And making money.
"DWTS" Season 11 alum Margaret Cho recently told "The View" that she pocketed $200,000 for competing on the show -- and she was only on it for three weeks!
"Dancing With the Stars" All-Stars premieres on September 24 on ABC.
