Executive Producer Steven S. DeKnight will follow up the final season of his "Spartacus" franchise by heading to outer space with "Incursion."
"I have always loved war movies... and I'm a huge science fiction fan," Steven told AccessHollywood.com at Comic-Con 2012, about "Incursion," which is in development for Starz.
The show, announced last week by the cable network, is being billed as a sci-fi action-thriller, which centers on a group of soldiers fighting hostile aliens.
"It's a ground-based series. It's not about being on spaceships," Steven told Access . "It's about a squad of soldiers, fighting this war. It's basically like World War II in space. Each season is a different planet

"It's like 'Black Hawk Down' on an alien planet," he continued. "We're going for gritty realism. We have military consultants, so we're trying to be as militarily accurate as possible."
And it will have aliens - but don't expect them to be cute and cuddly.
"These aren't aliens with bumps on their noses. These are aliens-aliens, so it's a massive undertaking," Steven explained.

The producer's current series, "Spartacus: War of the Damned," is filled with action, blood, heroism and scantily clad hunks and beauties, but "Incursion" will utilize a larger wardrobe.
"I don't want people to think it's going to be as naked as 'Spartacus,'" he said. "That time period it was very simple to have naked people around. When you're a soldier in an alien jungle, it's a little harder to have the naked romance."

But shirts can get ripped, Access suggested.
"We will see some flesh. Don't worry about that," he added, with a smile.
