On the "Suits" episode "Rewind," Harvey (Gabriel Macht) needs Mike (Patrick J. Adams) to step up in order to save Jessica (Gina Torres) by speaking to Monica. Who is Monica? Well, it's a long story. The episode "Rewind" takes the viewers on a journey through Pearson Hardman's past to find about the history of the firm, answering many questions about how the main players became who they are.
Has Louis always been a lap dog?
The short answer is yes. In fact, the Louis (Rick Hoffman) of the past was even more hilariously uncomfortable than the Louis of today. He has always been nosy. Back then, he enjoyed borrowing Jessica's couch for a nap because it is so soft and luxurious. Now, Jessica keeps her office locked at night.
What's with the relationship between Jessica and Harvey?
There was a time when Harvey was only an associate, and Louis was a partner. Harvey got the position he had in the "Pilot," junior partner, by helping Jessica to push out Hardman. Jessica initially believed Hardman's lies about stealing firm money to save his wife from dying of cancer. It was Harvey who figured out that it was all untrue.
Jessica repaid Harvey for bumping up her position to managing partner by bumping up his position to junior partner. She also took Hardman's office and gave her old office to Harvey.
Why does Hardman hate Harvey and Jessica so much?
He hates Jessica for siccing Harvey on him and taking away his job. But he hates Harvey most of all for threatening to tell his dying wife about his infidelity and thievery. Harvey caught Hardman in the act of cheating and claimed to know that Hardman spent the stolen money on his mistress rather than for cancer treatments.
What a snake Hardman is! But Harvey was also very cruel by telling Hardman that his wife may not be able to go on living after learning the truth about her husband. Would Harvey really have done something so cruel? He has a knack for putting on a vicious poker face, then later claiming he would never do such things. The question now is whether Harvey has ever gone through with such a cruel threat.
Why was Monica pushed out of Pearson Hardman?
Well, Monica was the woman who was sleeping with Hardman. She was a senior partner until Jessica kicked Monica out of the firm with a surprising level of lip-licking pleasure. Now, Monica may be the key to saving Jessica's job in the present.
Why does Zoe have such a contentious relationship with Harvey?
Zoe (Jacinda Barrett) was a senior partner in the escrow department of the firm and used to have a playful and flirty relationship with Harvey. When Harvey became the key to Hardman's removal, even using her computer (and her trust) to help him get the information he needed, she left the firm.
What was Donna like?
Donna (Sarah Rafferty) was much as she is now, but her past leads a bit more clarity to her real position in the office. She is the woman who knows everything. And she's weird. When Rachel (Meghan Markle) betrayed her quirkiness, Donna responded, "You're weird. We'll be friends." That is exactly why viewers love Donna.
Luckily for everyone, Harvey has not given up on Donna. He is committed to removing Hardman once again, and he reveals at the end that he is also now committed to getting Donna back.
