Suits" episode, "Shadow of a Doubt," contains an abundance of confrontations and honest revelations between each of the characters. As opposed to the usual "Suits" confrontation, most of these interactions turn out favorably, which was a welcome surprise.Tuesday night's "
Harvey and Donna
Donna (Sarah Rafferty) finally sits down with Harvey (Gabriel Macht) to tell him that she has been sleeping with Stephen (Max Beesley) for three days. Harvey doesn't seem surprised at all and says he's cool with it... as long as she's not working for Stephen, and as long as it doesn't affect her working for Harvey.
Harvey and Stephen
Harvey comes up with a brilliant idea for winning the murder case for Ava and bets Mike's (Patrick J. Adams) involvement in the case that his idea is better than Stephen's. Stephen wins, so Mike is thrown off the case.
The idea involves having Cameron Dennis thrown off the case for colluding with Tony Gianopoulos. They will prove that the two colluded by threatening to sue Tony in London for a number of offenses, which would keep him tied up in a foreign court for years.
Stephen soon oversteps his bounds, going after Tony's family and subpoenaing his daughter. There's no way Tony will help them get what they want now, and Harvey isn't happy about it.
Harvey confronts Stephen, but Stephen accuses him of being angry only because he is with Donna, which is ridiculous. It's a good thing Harvey and Donna spoke, because Stephen seems to be testing Harvey just to see whether he knows about them. Harvey is able to shoot back the specific information about them only having been together for three days, then he kicks Stephen off the case.
Mike and Rachel
With Mike having been kicked off Harvey's case, he decides to take on his first case with Rachel (Meghan Markle) as a couple. She becomes "Mike to Mike's Harvey," and they become a great good-cop bad-cop team, winning their case together.
Then Rachel, with some heavy convincing, agrees to bring Mike to dinner with her parents. All seems to go well until her father reveals that she is going to Stanford, which leaves Mike standing there, dumbfounded. He ends up feeling like an idiot, seeing that Rachel's father now knows that Rachel hasn't trusted him with the information.
Mike finally confronts Rachel about the withheld information, and she reveals that she has an interview at Stanford later in the week. She also says that she is interested in enrolling there, if she can get in. Mike is not sure what to think, knowing that their relationship could change forever if she leaves.
Harvey and Jessica
Harvey crawls to Jessica (Gina Torres) when he realizes Jessica was right about Stephen not having his best interests at heart. Jessica agrees to help Harvey fix the mess Stephen made of the case by using what she knows about Ava and Tony: Tony wants to own Ava's company, but Ava just wants to control it. If they could get Ava to sell her shares to Tony while retaining voting rights, they could have Tony confess to the fact that Dennis colluded with him.
Harvey and Cameron Dennis
The plan works perfectly, except that Dennis won't let go of the case, even if he only has a one-in-a-million chance of winning. Dennis really hates Harvey and is one of the most stubborn people on the planet. Pearson Darby will have an uphill battle ahead.
Harvey and Jessica (again)
Jessica gives Harvey his new business cards, indicating the new name of the firm: Pearson Darby Specter. Harvey initially believes it's some sort of chess play, but Jessica makes a convincing argument for realizing that Darby (Conleth Hill) treated her the way she treated Harvey, and it doesn't feel good. Harvey fails to mention the fact that Jessica's help on the case was akin to signing her own death warrant, since Harvey's deal with Darby states that Harvey will take over as managing partner once he wins the case. Will Harvey change his mind?
Louis and Nigel
Louis (Rick Hoffman) becomes incensed when he learns that Nigel (Adam Godley) is managing the associates through a series of memos and not doing a very good job at it. To make matters worse, Louis finds Nigel at his favorite "mudding" location, which makes him slightly insane. Nigel really knows how to get under Louis's skin!
All seems forgiven, however, when Louis sees that Nigel has a beautiful cat. He's taken with the animal right away, and Nigel agrees to let Louis cat-sit while he's away. It seems to be a trick, though, as she is the pickiest cat to ever walk the earth. Louis tells Donna that he hates the thing, right before claiming that he loves every minute with her.
