There was a surprise twist on "Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars" on Tuesday night, as a former runner-up was eliminated from the race for the highly-coveted Season 15 mirrorball trophy.
"I'll miss everybody out here because everybody was great," Joey Fatone, a veteran of Season 4, told show co-host Brooke Burke Charvet after learning the news. "[I] had a great time. You know what? For me, I'm actually going to a wedding tomorrow so... I'm gonna have a good time."
Joey and partner Kym Johnson had been in the Bottom 2 group, not with Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas, who scored just 18 points on Monday (the lowest score of the night), but with Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower.
It was former "DWTS" winner Helio's first ever time in the Bottom 2.
But it was Joey and Kym who got the bad news, and although he was forced to leave the competition, the former *NSYNC performer said he felt like he put in a good showing.
"I know that me and Kym, I didn't let you down," Joey said, turning to his partner. "We had a great time, people said I was fun and that's all that matters."
Kym, who made it to a second place finish in Season 4 with Joey in 2007 (losing to Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough), said she was actually disappointed.
"I'm upset, I'm sad, I'm not gonna lie," she said of their elimination.
"It happens," Joey said, trying to cheer his pro up. "It's the 'All-Stars.'"
"The 'All-Stars' -- it's an amazing season to be a part of," she said.
Also placed in the bottom group, although never defined as a "Bottom 3," were Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy, who were saved to dance another week.
Beyond Joey's exit news, show co-host Tom Bergeron revealed next week, two celebs will be eliminated from the competition.
"DWTS: All-Stars" returns to ABC on Monday at 8/7c.
