In fact, every one of these former "Dexter" actors has disappeared so completely into other roles that even the most ardent fans wouldn't recognize them. Here's a list of former "Dexter" guest stars and their famous film roles: Each one guaranteed to make fans of "Dexter" say, "Wait, that was that guy?"
"Dexter" role: Isaak Sirko, Season 7 villain
Surprising film role: The bearded warrior Volstagg in "Thor"
If you only know Ray Stevenson from his work as the chilling villain Isaak Sirko from "Dexter," you'd be flabbergasted to realize that this clean-cut villain was played by the same actor who also played Thor's buddy Volstagg.
Granted, a lot of what makes Stevenson unrecognizable to "Dexter" fans in his "Thor" role is his massive red beard, curly mane, and somewhat portly build. But "Dexter" fans also fail to recognize Stevenson in the role of Volstagg because Stevenson uses completely different vocal and physical mannerisms compared to his stint as Sirko.
Christian Camargo"Dexter" role: Dexter's older brother "Biney" (aka the Ice Truck Killer) in Season 1
Surprising film role: John Wilkes Booth in "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" and Eleazar of the Denali Coven in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" Parts 1 and 2
Despite only being a big part of the show for a single season, Christian Camargo's Ice Truck Killer is still one of the best-loved villains in "Dexter" history. And yet, most "Dexter" fans wouldn't recognize him as presidential assassin John Wilkes Booth in "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" or as the "vegetarian" vampire Eleazar in the "Twilight" films. Isn't it amazing what a little hair and makeup can do?
Liza Lapira"Dexter" role: Detective Yuki Amado, the internal affairs officer who tries to get Deb to snitch on Quinn in Season 3
Surprising film role: Heather in "Cloverfield"
Didn't recognize Lapira in her minor "Cloverfield" role? You can always blame it on the shaky camera work! Lapira also played Kianna in the Kevin Spacey card-counting flick "21." Perhaps "Dexter" fans don't recognize her because her stint on "Dexter" lasted just one season.
Peter Weller"Dexter" role: Stan Liddy, the corrupt narcotics cop Dexter kills in self-defense during Season 5
Surprising film role: The title role in "Robocop"
Most "Dexter" fans had no idea that their favorite serial killer was facing off against Robocop himself during Season 5. Weller also turned heads earlier this spring as Admiral Marcus in "Star Trek Into Darkness," though many "Dexter" fans failed to recognize him there, as well.
