Chaos takes over as a storm invades the town of Beacon Hills, California on the "Teen Wolf" episode "The Overlooked." Ms. Blake (Haley Webb) has been outed as the Darach (the thing that is sacrificing people), and the Alpha Pack is out for her blood. Now the hospital where Scott's mom, Melissa McCall (Melissa Ponzio), works is about to be overrun by the supernatural.
But, I'm good people!
Ms. Blake tries to convince Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) that she's just your average, everyday person, despite the fact that Scott (Tyler Posey) and Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) have already rushed to tell him the whole story of what happened in the previous episode.
Her last-ditch effort is to claim that they're lying, but she has no idea how close to the two teens Derek has become. Plus, Scott has proof: A bottle of mistletoe that reveals the hideous creature hidden beneath the beautiful face when Scott throws it at her. It's enough to make poor Derek want to kill the thing -- and he may even feel a bit nauseous when thinking about how he kissed that face earlier.
The only problem is that everyone needs Ms. Blake. She's the only one who can save Cora (Adelaide Kane), and the only one who knows where Stiles' dad Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) is. She has them right where she wants them.
The rush to the hospital
Ms. Blake is very convincing, but the perspicacious Stiles points out that she seems to be acting as if everything is going according to her plan. She claims to want to help them in return for protecting her from the Alpha Pack, but there's something else going on that he can't quite put his finger on.
They rush to the hospital to save Cora, but the Alpha Pack is already there to stop them. Each person gets to help out in some way, including the humans: Stiles gives Cora mouth-to-mouth when she stops breathing so she can live a little longer; Melissa saves Scott from the twins using defibrillator paddles; Allison (Crystal Reed) acts as a decoy for Ms. Blake to lure the Alphas outside and attack them with light-and-sound arrows with her father's (JR Bourne) help.
The story of the Darach
Meanwhile, Ms. Blake sweet-talks Derek with the story of her creation while they are stuck in an elevator. As chaos ensues throughout the rest of the hospital, she begins her story.
Ms. Blake used to be Julia Bacari, Kali's emissary. When Deucalion (Gideon Emery) ordered Kali (Felisha Terrell) and the others to kill their own packs, Kali killed everyone but her emissary. She still slashed Ms. Blake's face up pretty good, hence the grotesque slashes on the face hiding under the beautiful Ms. Blake facade. Still, Kali has a soft spot for her.
Then, Blake's story collides with Derek's. When Derek ended his true love's suffering under the nemeton (a tree that gains power from sacrifice), it was a virgin sacrifice that gave the nemeton just a little tinge of power. That little bit of power was just enough to save Ms. Blake's life until she could be found and saved by Stiles' dad.
Later, she continued the sacrifices in order to gain the power of all those she has killed in an effort to stop the Alpha Pack. The final set of sacrifices is to be three guardians.
Worse off than when they started
That's all well and fine, but Ms. Blake's story doesn't change the fact that she's a ruthless killer. The gang didn't realize that they were giving Ms. Blake exactly what she wanted: access to a second guardian, Scott's mom.
Ms. Blake knocks out Derek and steals Melissa. Ms. McCall is tied up with Mr. Stilinski next to the nemeton, and Cora is still sick and barfing black mistletoe goo. They not only didn't save anyone, but lost another guardian to boot.
This is how you lose an ally
Scott possibly could have helped Ms. Blake stop the Alpha Pack. The one thing the Alpha Pack leader Deucalion wants more than anything is for Scott, a true Alpha, to join his pack willingly. By taking Scott's mother, Ms. Blake ensures that Deucalion will get exactly what he wants. When Deucalion offers to help Scott save his mother and Stiles' father, Scott joins the cause willingly, as he feels it is his only remaining option.
Ms. Blake now has what she wants (except for the Alpha Pack possibly becoming stronger with a true Alpha's help), and Deucalion has what he wants. Which side will win? Perhaps they will both lose. Hopefully losing won't mean that many more people have to die.
