Television Style Icons: The Women We Most Want to Emulate

Every woman goes through a phase where she hates every single article of clothing stuffed in her closet. But rather than flocking to the nearest sample sale or the latest stack of fashion mags at your newsstand, we suggest turning on your TV instead. After all, there are so many beautiful women gracing the small screen, and any one of them could be your next fashion muse. If you want to emulate the style of an iconic TV character, we suggest one of the following women as inspiration.

Joan Harris, née Holloway, "Mad Men"

Yes, Betty is the epitome of style and grace, and she looks lovely in whatever she wears. But of course, there's only one woman that "Mad Men" fans want to emulate, and that is the curvaceous Joan. From her immaculate, intricate hair styles to the dresses she looks like she had to be poured into, her structured style makes her an object of desire for any man who crosses her path. Now, what woman wouldn't want that? One of our favorite looks? Those purple and green dresses she sports in the second season episode "The Mountain King."

    Charlotte, "Sex and the City"

Miranda and Samantha always looked great, don't get us wrong. And so did Carrie...but some of her choices are too whimsical, too avant-garde for us regular gals. No, for our money, the best-dressed dame on "SATC" was Charlotte. Clean, classic, and always vivacious, Charlotte may have been seen as the tamest of the bunch, but she had all the grace of Audrey Hepburn with styling to match. And who could forget those wedding dresses? Her ceremonies with Trey and Harry were both beautiful, but we're partial to the Badgley Mischka gown she wore for her second nuptials.

    Liz Lemon, "30 Rock"

Liz Lemon gets our love for single-handedly making glasses cool (and sexy!) again for the first time in years. She perfectly balances her look: professional to a T, but also cute and stylish. Despite her somewhat hectic personal life, and a wardrobe that doesn't include many designer pieces, Liz Lemon is a woman that all woman want to be like.

    Sydney Bristow, "Alias"

If there's one thing us gals want, it's the flexibility to change our look, to completely reinvent ourselves with just a new hairstyle and a unique outfit. Why not look to a super spy as our style icon? Sydney Bristow taught us that, sometimes, all you need to do to update your look is pop on a wig or a new dress. But even in plain black or a classic leather jacket, she still smoldered.
