Season 8 of "Deadliest Catch" will be airing in a few months; here are three fan predictions for the upcoming season.
Cornelia Marie Returns
Season 7 of "Deadliest Catch" was a tumultuous time for the Cornelia Marie, headed by Jake and Josh Harris with Tony Lara taking over as captain. Throughout the season there was a lot of hard times, including when Jake and Josh did not think that they could continue on with the legacy of their father, Captain Phil Harris. The Cornelia Marie had to end red king crab season early because there was no crab to be found, and they were going into debt, but they did return for a fairly good opilio season. The Cornelia Marie is one of the fan favorites and I predict Josh and Jake will return for another season because they are full of potential. I cannot see Jake or Josh doing anything other than crab fishing because they were brought up around it, and their father wanted them to carry on the legacy of crab fishing, so they are not going to give up without a fight.
Ramblin' Rose Will Return
Captain Elliott Neese appeared for the first time on "Deadliest Catch" last season and was one of the youngest on the show. Elliott went through a lot of trials and tribulations, including having mechanical problems with his boat and taking gambles on where the crab were going to be, which paid off big time. Elliott will be back this season because he will want to prove he is for real and that he just did not get lucky last season just because he is still in the learning phase of crab fishing. I also think Elliott will be back because he sees how "Deadliest Catch" can help people from all over the world -- it can inspire men to get out there and test their skills and goals in life.
Edgar Hansen Will Return
Edgar Hansen is the brother of Northwestern Captain Sig Hansen, and last season he officially retired after years of being the deck boss and ultimate leader of the boat. This was a hard loss for Sig because Edgar knew everything about the boat and how to run everything, which led to confusion for new boss Jake Anderson. I do not think that Edgar will be back on the boat full time, or that he will return in the same capacity, but I do believe Edgar will make a comeback this season as a mentor and as a leading force to drive Jake forward. Edgar wanted to spend time with his family and also had a lot of medical issues that prevented him from coming back, but he might come back with a less demanding role. I think Sig will talk Edgar into coming back, even if it is just for a trip or two, because Jake still needs to learn things and still has a lot to prove to become the true deck boss on the Northwestern. If Edgar does not show up, then life will still go on for Sig and Jake, but I think it will be more beneficial to the younger crew members and to Jake if Edgar came back and helped them feel more confident about being on their own.
