When a second season for "American Horror Story" was announced, fans were thrilled. However, the excitement was quickly followed by disappointment when producers revealed the story would move away from the murder house to a whole new location. Initially, the news was met with much disgust. What was to become of the Harmons, whose lives - and deaths - we followed so closely in Season 1? As time went on, and more details emerged, many fans started to come around. Here are three reasons "American Horror Story" will easily survive the dramatic changes.
It keeps it freshWhen other TV shows come back for a second season, you expect the story to carry on where it left off. That's a good thing, of course. But "American Horror Story" seems to have taken pride in not entirely playing by "the rules." The decision to begin something totally new will mean the show always stays fresh. If there is a new theme every year, it's basically like falling in love with something original every fall instead of seeing the same characters over and over.
The old cast membersIn order to keep a level of familiarity with the first season, some of the old cast members will be returning. Fan favorites, such as the incredible Jessica Lange and Evan Peters, will be back for Season 2. Sadly, they won't be playing their original characters, but no doubt viewers will tune in to see who they become, and whether their new parts will be as interesting as their old ones.
The teasersIt took a long time for any news about the new "American Horror Story" to come out, which in itself, was enough to have fans begging for more. But then the teasers started. The show will be set in an asylum. It won't be set in the present day. New leading roles were cast, using both well-known and unfamiliar actors. But what we were all waiting for was that first trailer, which was first released on Facebook. It shows a nun in the woods carrying buckets and emptying them as she walks. More recently, the second trailer was revealed, this one showing a nun carrying a blue coat. It's difficult to know what any of this means yet, but one thing is for sure. The buzz surrounding the show is set to continue, meaning that the second season of "American Horror Story" cannot possibly fail!
