The three were killed by a storm in El Reno, and were among nine people killed by storms in Oklahoma late Friday, according to CNN. Tim Samaras was 55, Paul Samaras was 24, and Young was 45.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Tim Samaras his son Paul and their colleague Carl Young," Discovery said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families."
Earlier Friday, Tim Samaras posted a picture of a cloud formation on Twitter with the caption: "Storms now initiating south of Watonga along triple point. Dangerous day ahead for OK--stay weather savvy!"
"Mile Wide Tornado: Oklahoma Disaster," a special focusing on the deadly tornado that struck Oklahoma on May 20, will now be dedicated to the three victims when it premieres on Sunday at 10/9c. Though the Samarases and Young do not appear in the program, it will read: "In memory of Tim Samaras, Carl Young and Paul Samaras, who died Friday, May 31st doing what they love, chasing storms," according to Discovery.
