The first season finale of "Touch" left us with the possibility for much more excitement and a new, fast-paced story arc. While the first season was always thought-provoking, it focused mostly on Jake (David Mazouz) leading Martin (Kiefer Sutherland) on a path to help people in their area. This would lead to Martin's confusion -- wondering what it was he was supposed to do until it all came clear. A new change of pace may do the series some good.
Last season had Martin and Jake fleeing to California, after Clea (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) learned that AsterCorp was hunting for kids like Jake, who obsess over Amelia Sequence numbers. Teller named that sequence after one of his patients. The pair met up with Amelia's mother, Lucy Robbins (Maria Bello), in the finale. She had been searching for her daughter for several years, using the numbers.
This Season 2 preview clip indicates that Martin and Jake may be able to help Lucy in her search. Even though Martin has a brand new focus, Jake always goes where the numbers lead him. While finding Amelia may be the main focus, Jake will most likely send Martin on a few other missions along the way. Perhaps Lucy will be around to help the team on their new journey. Let's just hope the new focus, change of scenery, and a new character will help the show stay out of the cancellation danger zone during Season 2.
Season 2 will premiere on Friday, 2/8 at 8 PM ET on FOX.
