One of the most entertaining aspects of "True Blood" has always been its fantastic and well-drawn characters. From the caring but often cold Bill to the dangerously seductive Eric, the characters of this series manage to draw us in and repel us, sometimes in the same episode. Fortunately for fans of the show, there are a number of exciting new characters set to take the stage.
Salome
Although this particular character is not based on anyone from the books, she nevertheless sounds like a fascinating character. Italian actress Valentina Cervi has been cast in the role, and it looks like she is going to be like many of the other female vampires that we have already seen: both incredibly seductive and incredibly dangerous for those who cross her path. Of course, that's really nothing new when it comes to the vampires of "True Blood," but it will be nice to see another strong female vampire come onto the stage.
Roman
We are also looking forward to the appearance of Roman (played by the inimitable Christopher Meloni), who will appear as part of the much-discussed but never yet seen Authority. What will he bring? Will he be after Bill and Eric for their unfortunately rash murder of Nan? Only time will tell whether the dynamic duo will face the wrath of the Authority or whether they will join it to bring down their very powerful common enemy: the suave and sophisticated, but also incredibly dangerous and psychopathic, Russell Edgington.
Nora
Finally, we come to Nora, who looks like she will be a sister of sorts for everyone's favorite Nordic vampire Eric (they both share Godric as a maker). Again, it remains to be seen exactly where her loyalties lie, and while all signs point to her love and affection for Eric, it also seems that she has some higher purposes in mind, and that she may in fact play a significant role in the ever-growing plot to bring down the oppressive and dangerous Authority.
Clearly, "True Blood" is going to play to its strengths this season, returning to the vampire politics that made the second and third seasons so entertaining (and that were notably lacking in the most recent season). With all of these vampires going at each other, what's to become of Sookie? Will they try to use her again in their own fiendish designs and internecine strife? Only time will tell, but it's sure to be another great season of everyone's favorite vampire drama.
