Valentine's Day Wishes for TV's Favorite Characters

This Valentine's Day many of us will be spending time with the ones we love or simply trying to get through the day. Either way, most of us will probably be having a better time than some of these misguided TV characters. Here are my wishes for some of the most forlorn:

    "Downton Abbey": Love and Longing

Where do you start with Downton Abbey? So many couples, so much unrequited and forbidden love! First and foremost my wish would be for the valet, Mr. Bates (Brendan Coyle) and Anna (Joanne Froggatt) the maid to find love and buy that little hotel together. Just when I thought it was safe and Mr. Bates was finally divorced from the conniving ex-wife, she shows up again. Even though it's kind of great that the ex-Mrs. Bates is dead now, it is truly my sincerest wish that it was not Mr. Bates who bludgeoned her to death (what happened there?!) I am torn about Lady Mary Crawley (Michele Dockery) and Matthew (Dan Stevens) - they are soul mates, but what about her engagement to the threatening newspaper mogul? It might be easier for everyone involved if they settled for their current partners. And let's not even get started on Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown-Findlay) and the chauffeur. Do you think she will honestly run away from her wealth to be with him?

"The Big Bang Theory": An Amy and Sheldon Household

The obvious Valentine's Day wish is for Penny and Leonard to overcome their problems and enjoy being together for who they are. But my real wish is for Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons). My Valentine's Day wish is that they would move in together and create a perfectly neurotic household. Amy would love the order that Sheldon creates and whip Sheldon into shape. I'd like to see how extensive their roommate agreement would be!

"30 Rock": Liz Lemon and Jack Donaghy Should So Get Together!

As we saw in this week's episode of "30 Rock," Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) is notorious for having horrible Valentine's Days. In my Valentine's Day fantasies for Liz, she would dump her handsome, laid back boyfriend and start dating Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin). Even though Liz and Jack are totally different in a lot of ways, they actually complement each other - and their chemistry is truly undeniable. It's clear that Jack knows Liz better than she knows herself. Why deny what would work so beautifully? And Liz could finally be done with the string of loser boyfriends!

I suppose if all my Valentine's Day wishes come true there would be no drama or television series suspense. Oh well, we can wish. Happy Valentine's Day!
