"Glee" fans have been asking to meet Rachel's dads since the pilot episode when we saw their picture in her locker. At one point in time, "Glee" execs decided that they weren't going to bring in any more guest stars, destroying any hopes fans had for actors to play those roles. It seems that the powers-that-be at "Glee" have changed their minds about guest stars because TV Line announced that Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell will play her dads. If you haven't heard those names then you must not watch movies or TV, and you must not care about Broadway. Hiring those two is the best, and most clever, thing "Glee" has done in a very long time, and for good reasons.
Meeting Rachel's Dads Gives Viewers a Better Look at the Reasons Behind Her Personality.
Even though Rachel only inherited genes from one of her dads, they did raise her. It is not only a person's genes that develop their personality, but also the things they see, do and learn. We know that Rachel's dads spoiled her and helped to instill that love of show business. By getting to meet them, fans will finally get to see how they treat her, most likely as a princess, and learn part of why she so annoying.
In the Pilot, Rachel said she didn't know which one of her dads was her biological father. When viewers saw the picture of her dads, we immediately laughed because one is black and the other stereotypically Jewish. With the announcement of Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell as her dads, it is easy to guess that the "Glee" head honchos are planning to keep that joke running and confuse us more about which one is her real dad.
If Jeff Goldblum, as Hiram, is Rachel's Real Dad then She Inherited His Looks.
Jeff Goldblum can sing, and he has a jazz band, but he is not Broadway material. The man his hilarious and has an amazing way with words. Every fan loves the way he expresses his lines and thoughts. He is goofy and silly, and that's what we love about him. It is obvious that if Hiram is Rachel's real dad, then she inherited his looks. Jeff Goldblum and Lea Michele look a lot alike. He really could be her dad in real life.
If Hiram and Shelby are Rachel's real parents then she inherited her looks from both parents and her voice from her mom.
If Brian Stokes Mitchell, as LeRoy, is Rachel's Real Dad then She Inherited His Voice.
Brian Stokes Mitchell is a Tony Award winning Broadway legend. Mitchell can sing, obviously, and he has a strong, powerful voice that stirs emotions. The man knows how to belt it out. His voice is pure Broadway. Brian Stokes Mitchell and Lea Michele don't have even one physical similarity. They don't look anything alike, but they do have similar voices. Her voice is also pure Broadway.
If LeRoy and Shelby are Rachel's real parents, then she inherited her looks from her mom and her voice from both parents.
By casting Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell as Rachel's parents, "Glee" can still keep that joke running. Either one really could be her real dad. Clever, "Glee," clever. We never knew you had it in you.
