Woo Hoo! 'Simpsons' Fans Will Soon Be Able to Visit Springfield

A theme park modeled after the animation's infamous town of Springfield is coming to Universal Orlando.

If you're a "Simpsons" fan who has always wanted to visit Springfield, you're about to get your chance. Universal Orlando is building a new area modeled on the famous family's hometown.

From the looks of a concept video released by Universal, pretty much all the classic Springfield establishments will be there. Anyone craving a "meat-flavored" sandwich can head over to Krusty Burger. Got a hankering for fish? Set sail for the Frying Dutchman! For folks over 21, Moe's Tavern should offer watered-down beverages, dank environs, and, perhaps in the back room, a panda-smuggling operation.

Feel like buying some overpriced and likely expired food? Apu should have you covered at the Kwik-E-Mart. And if you're looking to buy the latest issue of Biclops or Milhouse’s favorite Carl Yastrzemski baseball card with the big sideburns, take a stroll to the Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop, where rude service awaits.

According to Universal, mini-Springfield (not its official name) will also feature more Simpsons characters who will interact with guests. Krusty the Clown and the nefarious Sideshow Bob are set to make their debut this summer (Bob must be out on parole).

Fans of all things Simpsons may recall a 7-Eleven stunt from several years back when select stores became Kwik-E-Marts for a limited time. The stores sold Simpsons-inspired food such as pink doughnuts with sprinkles and, of course, Squishees.

And back in 1997, a fan won a real-life Simpsons house designed to look just like the home of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The house, located in Henderson, Nevada, was later redesigned to look just like any other house. D'oh!
