Woo Hoo! Fox Orders Two More Seasons of The Simpsons

    The Simpsons will live on!

Fox has renewed the longest-running comedy for two more seasons, Seasons 24 and 25, which will include the show's 500th episode in February 2012, the network announced Friday.

The Simpsons cast close to signing deal — but how much will they make?

The renewal comes as a relief to fans. On Monday, the network reportedly gave the cast an ultimatum: Agree to take a 45 percent pay cut by Friday or the animated series will be canceled. The new deal reportedly won't reduce their salaries as much as Fox originally demanded, but it will not include any revenue pay.

On Monday, it was reported that the actors — Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer — proposed a 30 percent pay cut in exchange for a small percentage of the show's back-end profits, which includes syndication and merchandising. But that offer was swiftly rejected by the network.

Early Friday, Shearer spoke out against Fox, saying he would take a pay cut as large as 70 percent in order to get a share of the sitcom's hefty profits. Shearer said there were "simply no circumstances under which the network would consider allowing me or any of the actors to share in the show's success."

Fox gives Simpsons actors an ultimatum

The show's producers already agreed to salary reductions, but several of them already have deals that include compensation from back-end profits.

Created by Matt Groening, The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8/7c on Fox. Following the World Series, The Simpsons will return with "Treehouse of Horrors XXII" on Sunday, Oct. 30.

Luckily it was on Fox, so low rating the first few weeks did not take it off the air like it would have on the real networks.

The morality of people in this country has gone way below the gutter so why not take a holesom program like The Cosby Show and put this vulgar trashey program in it's place. To hell with the simsons and Fox don.t watch either.

And just what would Fox replace The Simpsons with? Some lame piece of "reality TV' that'd barely last a season.

No, Seth Mcfarlane and friends will create a new show called the quagmire and joe show, where the 2 characters will leave quahog and it will focus on them and their talking cat friend.

If you believe in God, then the world won't end, because nobody knows the date, the time or the hour, nor do the angels in heaven.

Just to give you a little hint on how long this show's been on; I was a fan of the Simpson's ever since it was an animated short that played on The Tracy Ullman Show and I was about 13 at the time. I'm 38 now.

Dude, almost none of these people posting on here even know who Tracey Ullman is or that she had a show.

Yep same here was just a kid when they came on. It has grown old. The thing that sticks with me is how the animation changed from the Tracey Ullman show when they went main stream.

No back end profits - DOH!
    • vinonoir  •  7 months ago
Wow, the network slams the writers' pay and they're supposed to remain upbeat and creative? Where's the motivation? I can see a pay cut if they would have gave them a little of the backend.

Typical Corporate SOP-Need profits 'cuse we spent them when times waz good-So cut the $ to the talent or "workers" who generate the cash flow. I know these actors make big bucks but its again a corporate America standard operating proceedure.

Its amazing this show has lasted this long when most shows dont make it past 3 seasons...
    • Scotty  •  7 months ago
So are the executives in charge making this offer also taking a 45 percent pay cut? Just curious.
    • MPA2000  •  7 months ago
The Simpsons should have been cancelled years ago. The Cast is made up mostly of aged members from the old show "Herman's Head". And all that they do is voices. VOICES! Who can demand millions of dollars for freaking doing voices?

Besides, Family Guy has long since derailed the Simpsons, who are still stuck in the 90s.

      fox was bluffing.
    • Mr. X  •  7 months ago
Yeah, theres three ways to look at it.

      A. The big wigs are greeedy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      B. The people who make the show should make more because of its monster profits.
      C. People who play voices for a cartoon shouldn't complain at all when their salaries are ridiculous factoring in the work they actually do.

All 3 are right, so i fall in the it is what it is category.
