'The Young and the Restless': Michael Damian Shines in New Christmas Film

Michael Damian has worn many hats in his career since he started out as a rock singer and a leading man on "The Young and the Restless." As fans know, he is much loved for his role as Danny Romalotti. Michael has moved on to many other exciting projects in his career, although he does leave the door open to return to the show, and fans often Tweet about their desire to have him back!

With "A Princess for Christmas," which debuted on the Hallmark Channel on Dec. 3, Michael directed the film that he co-wrote with his wife, Janeen. Fans will be delighted to know that Damian also has a cameo at the start of the film; that was my favorite part as I love his acting.

The whole movie was quite spectacular. It's not your average Christmas flick for sure, and that's what makes it stand out as one to watch every year. It stands up to the standards such as "A Miracle on 34th Street" and compares to some of my favorite Christmas TV movies that I've added to my collection, such as "A Mom for Christmas." Is it anything like these movies? No. It's very unique, and that is a part of its charm.

"A Princess for Christmas" tells the story of a young woman who finds herself in tragic circumstances. She loses her job, and Damian himself plays the kind boss who reluctantly lets her go. However, that is the least of the problems for the young woman, Jules Daly (Katie McGrath) is still mourning the loss of her sister and brother-in-law from a year ago and trying to cope with the custody of her late sister's children. Katie gives a sensitive portrayal that hints at great promise for her blossoming career.

Just when all looks lost for this makeshift family, something rather exquisite happens that changes the course of their lives, and the movie becomes all the more magical. It's a family-friendly movie, which is to be expected from Hallmark, and it has a certain charm that will leave you feeling great. It is most certainly a feel-good film.

It's with this movie that Michael proves that he's as talented at directing as he is at acting and making music, and that's something extraordinary indeed. It's one that fans of "The Young and the Restless" will not want to miss.

Don't worry if you didn't catch it on its first run. It re-airs on the Hallmark Channel several more times throughout the season, including Dec. 9. Also, it is available via the Hallmark Channel on iTunes. Michael Damian Tweets updates about the film as well via his account, @MichaelDamian1.
