Zach is Back on 'Desperate Housewives'

Zach Young (Cody Kasch) is back on "Desperate Housewives," and he hasn't exactly straightened out. This confused kid - who's actually a full-fledged adult at this point - came back to town and made his first stop on Wisteria Lane to put a bullet into the man who raised him.

Everyone on Wisteria Lane believed that Zachary Young was the biological child of Mary Alice and Paul Young, but the truth began to unravel after Mary Alice committed suicide in the very first episode of "Desperate Housewives." It would take many episodes for the whole truth to come out and it wasn't something Zach - already showing signs of mental illness - could handle.

It seems that Zach was actually Dana, the child of Deidre Taylor and Mike Delfino. At the time of his birth, his mother was a heroin addict and his father was in jail. Along came Angela Forrest, a nurse at the rehab center Dana was born in, a woman who couldn't have children of her own. She "bought" Dana in exchange for drugs for his mother, and then she and her husband moved to Wisteria Lane - using the names Mary Alice and Paul Young, where they called the boy Zachary.

The details on how the truth all came out can be found in the first few seasons, but the climax is what really matters. Deidre came to Wisteria Lane and tried to reclaim her son, and Mary Alice stabbed her in a fight over the boy. When Mary Alice received notes acknowledging that someone knew what she had done, she couldn't live with the lie any longer and killed herself.

Mike Delfino knew that Deidre had died in this neighborhood, but he was unaware of the situation or the fact that he had a son. Unfortunately, by the time he and Zach acknowledged their relationship, Zach was already a troubled teen. Everyone, including Julie, who had a deep friendship with him for a while, started to see Zach's fury, which included holding Mike and Susan at gunpoint and stalking Gabrielle.

Zach had a reunion with his biological grandfather, Noah Taylor, a sickly and bitter old man who wanted payback for his daughter Deidre's death. Zach "helped" him to his death sooner rather than later and left with his grandfather's fortune. That was four seasons ago, and it appears he has spent the money on partying and drugs. Now, he is back in town and we'll just have to wait and see who it is he is out to get.

As is always the case on "Desperate Housewives," there's probably a whole lot more to Zach's agenda than meets the eye.
