Alex, a student afflicted with AIDS, finds his health and quality of life much improved as a result of the numerous resources the Brazilian government devotes to battling and containing the spread of the disease. His ordeal unexpectedly brings his family, mother Beth, father Antonio and brother Antonio, closer together.
