Best Antidepressant around!
November 19, 2009Hysterically funny. First time I've watched, and I cried tears it was so funny. Getting shot in the back of the head and the disparaging comments were brilliant. I could totally relate to the "women's issues" when the ranger was interrogating the main character. Don't know names yet since it was my first episode.Was this review helpful to you? I love the fact that it takes place in a small town in Indiana of all places. The writing is good and as time goes on the characters are becoming more developed. It is good to watch something that isn't a CSI or hospital show. So tired of those.Was this review helpful to you? Sign in to rate -

Best show on NBC
October 23, 2009NBC's lineup is about as weak as any network on TV. Everything can be cancelled on NBC except for Thursday nights. Their lineup is so weak they have to have Jay Leno on primetime every night to save themselves from disaster. They put the only decent skit on SNL in primetime (which should have been cancelled years ago). They drop My Name Is Earl, one of the funnier shows they had. Not sure why those fans don't like Parks & Rec when it is the same tongue in cheek comedy.
I never really got into The Office or 30 Rock, which are more quirky than funny, but somehow Parks & Rec has worked really well. Many of the characters makes fun of themselves in an unknowningly way that seem to work better than The Office. Especially Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) who seems more unknowningly stuck up and full of small town pompous pride.
Like Arrested Development, the show shouldn't get cancelled (still miss that show). I definitely would buy the dvds as they come available. If anything, NBC should start cancelling other lame shows first (Community/Mercy/Trauma/Southland)Was this review helpful to you? Sign in to rate -

Getting better

I like Amy Poehler, so I want to see this show succeed. It's been decent so far, but last week, when Fred Armisen was on, the show seemed suddenly much better. Armisen played a rude military officer from Venezuela, creating major conflict for Poehler. It was quite funny. He's one of my favorite people on Saturday Night Live, so it was great to see him do a guest spot. I think it showed that the show has potential.
