    Free-Thinkers Use Entertainment Techniques

    December 25, 2006
I don't always agree with these guys. In fact, I strongly disagree with them on one of the most important topics of the day.

Nonetheless, they actually devote time to a careful consideration of many ideas. Ideas which get short shrift on the nightly news.

Let's face it: the network news producers have to pander to the short-attention-span crowd. That means lots of celebs and sports, but serious questions can only get 30 seconds before Joe sixpack reaches for the remote.

On the other hand, P & T are seasoned entertainers with their own iconoclastic and libertarian ideas. They're smart boys who know how to hold our attention. Each show is devoted to an idea that some people have fallen victim to, such as firewalking or ESP.

Thus, they love to pick wacked-out nut jobs to pick on and expose, but sometimes they serve to raise controversial topics. Even if they make a mistake about what side of an issue to come down on, it is great to find a TV show devoted to ideas, presented in an entertaining way.

So, if you can tolerate completely gratutitous nudity, tons of foul language, but like humor and thoughfulness, this is your show.

BTW, P & T, please tell me your episode slamming the climate scientists was a spoof. Just because some nut jobs believe in global warming DOES NOT mean that the scientists are also nut jobs!

    Irreverent and Thought Provoking

    August 8, 2008
In a society that's becoming more and more politically correct, Penn and Teller unapologetically call 'em like they see 'em. The show illustrates how groups of people, and their beliefs, can differ greatly from the norm. It also shows us how the “norm” may not be what we think it is. The best part is that the show doesn’t really take itself all that seriously. Penn and Teller blend their own brand of sarcastic humor with their mastery of magic to provide the viewer with a thought provoking and entertaining show.

    I'm a fan!

    August 8, 2009
I'm so thankful that these guys have a platform to relate their views on touchy subjects without having to be politically correct. Very refreshing! I agree with almost everything that these guys have to say.

One thing that bugs me is that when they bring on someone with a contrasting point of view, they seem to go out of their way to find these extreme wacko nut-jobs that are as stupid as they are inarticulate, and then they ridicule the poor idiot. I think they could do better. As clever as they are, they couldn't be scared of a little challenge, could they? But perhaps such an exchange would be more enlightening and less entertaining than beating up a moron.

In your face, loud, yet very entertaining

    November 20, 2007
Penn and Teller make it very clear, that what they say is their opinion, and they invite the viewers to agree or disagree. Some might think, they are pushing their opinion on you, but really the show is all about making you decide what your own opinion is.
Nothing is held back on this show, where they debate various subjects from recycling to tantric sex. The show does contain alot of profaine language and occasional nudity (men and women, full nudity). VERY ENTERTAINING! If you do not like Michael Moore, but like his show concepts, then this is the show for you
