films, usually as the resourceful friend of the leading lady, Paige went on to win acclaim for her leading performance in the Broadway musical "Pajama Game" (1954) and blithely stole the musical film "Silk Stockings" (1957) from Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse. Married to composer Ray Gilbert ("Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah") from 1962 till his death in 1976.
