Yes, we swear this actually happened: In just his second year with the San Francisco Giants (and a hundred pounds lighter than his retirement weight), the reigning National League MVP took an acting gig on Fox's primetime soap "Beverly Hills, 90210." (Maybe he thought the MLB strike would last longer?) And this was no quick cameo: No, Bonds actually had to attempt to act as the son of a country club member who Steve's dad is desperate to beat at golf. Unfortunately, "attempt" is a kind word for Bonds's more-wooden-than-a-Louisville-Slugger performance. And crazier still, the episode's plot turns on a performance-enhancing cheat: Steve discovers that his father was using (gasp!) illegally juiced golf balls. Nothing like a little teen-soap foreshadowing, eh, Barry?
