Rob Lowe returns to Lifetime to play lead prosecutor Jeff Ashton, whose book is the basis for Lifetime's new movie about the explosive Casey Anthony murder trial, "Prosecuting Casey Anthony" (premiering January 19). Yeah, we don't see the resemblance, either -- which is strange, because Lowe did gain weight and sit through hours of makeup to play accused wife-killer Drew Peterson in Lifetime's "Drew Peterson: Untouchable" last year. What, they couldn't throw some money for white hair-dye into the budget? They're not as far apart in age as you might think, either: Ashton is 55, and Lowe is 48 (if you can believe it).
Though he lost the case, Ashton is now the sitting state attorney for Florida's Orange and Osceola counties. And he
does plan on watching the Lifetime movie, though he doesn't expect 100 percent realism: "I know there are parts of it that I am not going to like... There's a preview out there where Mr. Lowe says something like, 'When I'm finished with her, she'll be the most hated woman in America.' And when I saw that, I thought, 'I never would say that.'"
