And on an even playing field this week (both premiered after new episodes of “New Girl”), “Ben and Kate”
trailed “Mindy” by a half-million viewers in their debuts… and the adorkable “Mindy” feels like a better fit with “New Girl,” anyway. “Kate” will get the considerably weaker lead-in of “Raising Hope” from here on out.
Prognosis: 50-50. Good word of mouth could save this one, but as the weak link in Fox’s new Tuesday comedy lineup, it’ll be ripe for replacement by midseason.
