more Bob Saget (Danny Tanner)Bob Saget found early success in the entertainment world. At 19, while enrolled at Temple University, he won a student Academy Award for his documentary short "Through Adam's Eyes." He quickly turned to stand-up comedy, making the occasional guest appearance on series like "The Greatest American Hero" and "It's a Living."
But Saget became a household name when he took the part of one of America's most lovable TV dads, Danny Tanner. The role of the widower with three small daughters and two best friends put Saget on the sitcom map and gave him a squeaky-clean image that he'd carry through to his other big TV gig, host of "America's Funniest Home Videos."
Saget returned to situation comedies in 2009 with "Surviving Suburbia," but the show lasted only 13 episodes. Yet when Saget played himself in three episodes of "Entourage," fans saw a darker persona than he'd revealed on primetime before. Still, Saget hasn't turned his back on mainstream TV completely. Since 2005, he's served as the narrator on the hit show "How I Met Your Mother." He also continues to tour as a stand-up comic and recently filmed a special at the Moore Theatre in Seattle.
Saget divorced his wife of 15 years, Sherri Kramer Saget, in 1997. The couple has three daughters: twins Aubrey and Lara Melanie, and their younger sister, Jennifer Belle.
