Two years later, ABC debuted a sitcom of the same name. But Parton, Tomlin, and Fonda had created a legacy that was hard to live up to. The series stars Rachel Dennison, Rita Moreno, and Valerie Curtin didn't find the same success, and production closed up shop in 1983. But the show got another chance in 1986.
