"Teen Wolf"
In July 1985, Michael J. Fox was riding high. Thanks to his role on "Family Ties," he had garnered his first Emmy nomination. And his movie "Back to the Future" was a box-office blockbuster. He followed it up with "Teen Wolf" a month later. The
good news for Fox was that the basketball-playing-werewolf tale opened at No. 2, and his time-travel flick was occupying the No. 1 spot. But on the flip side, critics were not kind. In his
New York Times review, Vincent Canby called the film "aggressively boring." An animated version in 1986 lasted just two seasons.
Many moons passed until 2011, when Jeff Davis developed a new adaptation for MTV. In this more serious reimagining, Tyler Posey took on the title role, with a supporting cast that included Crystal Reed, Dylan O'Brien, and Holland Roden.
New York Post critic Linda Stasi gushed over the show: "Not only is it really well thought out, but the good-looking kids in the show can actually act." The show is set to return for its third season this June. Now, that's something fans can sink their teeth into.
