As a reality villain Puck set the standard for self-absorbed rudeness. Although most of the house members were initially attracted to Puck’s in-your-face “I am what I am” personality, Pedro (the HIV-positive AIDS educator) was immediately repelled. While Puck’s disgusting behavior (like nose-picking and then sticking his dirty fingers into the communal jar of peanut butter) may have seemed laughable, it was actually hazardous. When it was explained to Puck that his bad hygiene was life-threatening to Pedro because of Pedro’s vulnerable immune system, Puck was not only unmoved, his behavior escalated. He was ultimately thrown out of the Real World house, but that didn’t stop him from harassing the cast for the remainder of the season with prank phone calls and name calling.
