Oh sure, it featured a pair of Bert-and-Ernie-like roommates named Rod and Nicky, but Rod is a closeted gay Republican puppet with feelings for his roomie. Edgy and surprising songs include "The Internet Is for Porn," "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist," and "I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today." The parody, while a bit too racy and profanity-laced for kids, was done with love. In fact, four of the "Avenue Q" original cast members had worked on "Sesame Street." The production won three Tony awards for best musical, best book, and best original score.
