Sir Mick? Celebs with Royal Honors
While each year celebs vie for industry-specific
trophies that validate their work, only a select few can say they’ve been named
a knight or dame by Her Majesty the Queen. Established in 1917, the Most
Excellent Order of the British Empire is an order of chivalry awarded at investiture
ceremonies twice a year. Celebs are most often honored for their artistic contributions,
as well as their charitable efforts. And while the honor is reserved for
citizens of the UK or British Commonwealth countries, outsiders have also
been recognized. They just can’t put “Sir” or “Dame” in front of their names.
