None of our present and past presidents have the slightest clue as to what it means to be poor. They have (had) no idea as to what it is (was) to wonder where their next meal was comming from, of if they were going to have to become homeless.
I think America's present day government lives by the rule: We, the Government, for the Government, by the Government, and we don,t care where the public likes it or not, we will have our way!

What are you talking about? Neither Clinton nor Obama grew up rich. They may not have been poor (probably middle class), but they didn't have a silver spoon in their mouths growing up.
      • Hadassah 3 months ago
What about Harry S Truman? He was never rich and he was probably the single best President. Even Republicans voted for him. Where are the Harry S Trumans?

Abe Lincoln's family were poorer than the dirt floor in their log cabin.

Abraham Lincoln was without a doubt, by far and by ANY stretch of the imagination not only the best President of the United States, but an Icon and legend for the ages. He did a lot more the Reaganomics ever did for this country. Only FDR and Washington come close..
      • Mike 3 months ago
FDR ??? Are you kidding me. Yes Lincoln was one of if not the greatest of all time but FDR.
OMG you are clueless. He laid the ground work for all the stupidity Obama is ramming down the countries throat today.

Lincoln was a man who talked out of both sides of his mouth,a pure big business puppet
      • Vern 3 months ago
Dude, I really have to set you straight on some things, Lincoln was his own man and nobody's puppet, it was him and only him, with unshakable and uninfluential resolve that got this country though the war and kept it together. No other President ever had a tougher job than him, look at pictures of him in 1861 and 1865, the war really drained his health but he did his job the best he could. I get the feeling that you do not like Old Abe because his Army beat your Army. A few facts : he did not free the slaves, it was a war measure that after Jan 1 all slaves in still rebellious states would be free and Jeff Davis was'nt going to listen to him anyway. Lincoln's wife Mary's two brothers were Confederate Officers and when one of them was killed, Lincoln brought the Confederate widow to the White House to be with her sister, a man of amazing wits and compassion. He did not seek vengance on your people, rather " Let 'em up easy" is what he said. Brother, stop slinging your hate around, get in your 4WD truck and get a book and learn something.

What has happened to the once greatest country on Earth. The first president to introduce the American people to their first trillion dollar budget deficite wins the pole over the president who single handedly brought the United States out of the great depression by creating work programs that got Americans back to work, while at the same time dealing with the worst tyrant in human history that came to be responsible for killing 60 million people globally. The wild west... everyone loves a party until the rent comes due.

The best was Johnny Carson playing Reagan on Tonight Show.
      • Brian 3 months ago
Carson once came on stage in the middle of one of Willie Nelson's songs dressed as Willie and sang a verse. It was a great imitation and one of the funniest things I ever saw on TV. Even as a teen, I loved Carson. So sad he's no longer with us.

I think truth has come ,so far from politics, that if our gut feelings, could tell us sometning, they would say," Out With The False Promisies", but now money seems to be what leds the nation!!! If you have money, you can pretty much do what, you want, but if you have morals & honesty, they don't take any presidence! Thats why their are so many innocent, people in jail! When people are bragging about how much their clothes cost, instead of helping the needy, it shows where their hearts are!!! The middle & lower class people can seem to find the money, for the needy!!! Maybe the people should take back, our country, the way it was meant to be, instead of letting the rich & powerful, decide what they want for us!!!!! If people don't come together soon, it'll be to late!!! Look how many people let that power, go to their heads, at other peoples cost, but everybody agrees & nobody will do nothing, except TALK #$%$ The rich don't care about the increases, they'll just find a way to get a NEW TAX WRITE OFF!!!!!!!

I don't get it about reagan being such a great president. I WAS OUT OF WORK AND LOST MY HOUSE AND BELIEVE ME NO ONE CAME TO MY RESCUE!!!!!!!!!!
      • Mike 3 months ago
So who did you want to come to your rescue?

I agree with the comment on Reagan. I thought he was such a fake, and perhaps he thought he was playing the role of a president, instead of actually BEING president. I remember the world being one of poor economics, and poor government.

Reagan sold weapons to terrorists Yahoo. Sorry you evidently have a problem with that fact. Google "Iran Contra" some time.
    • Katmandoo  •  3 months ago
Funny...you don't see the most popular President in history in the Polls....Bill Clinton. He Out Polls Reagan by over 25 points in every National Poll. Even Kennedy Out Polls Reagan.
They don't want you to see that, do they?

George Washington was right. Stay away from foreign affairs. Guess the next batch of presidents did not heed the warning. Maybe one year we will get it ;but not today.

Reagan, really! He did nothing compared to Lincoln or FDR. Does anyone remember Iran/Contra affair? He was an actor and that's about it.

Ronald Reagan? #$%$.. The guy sucked, broke the union, created the savings and loan collapse, raised middles class taxes to give to the rich, interest rates were out the roof, took away the delectable for credit card interest the list goes on and on.. Then you have Roosevelt which pulled us out of a depression, created the SS safety net, created FDIC to protect the middles classes money from the banks the positive list goes on and on.. The two do not even compare how could anyone in the right mind pick Reagan...
    • harley5571  •  Detroit, Michigan  •  3 months ago
Do folks who chose Reagan actually understand his tax rates on the rich and on corporations. The repub candidates all seem to talk about R.R..NEVER about GWB..but his tax rates are totally opposite of what the repubs have and want in today's world.
