The only new show on our best-of list, Lena Dunham's flat-out brilliant portrait of struggling Brooklyn 20-somethings brings the millennial generation to the small screen in vivid detail -- with all their flaws intact. Case in point: Dunham's Hannah, our spoiled, petty, self-obsessed heroine who makes at least one terrible decision in each episode but somehow gets us to root for her anyway. The cast of mostly unknowns is a revelation on the level of "Freaks and Geeks" (fitting, since Judd Apatow produced both shows), highlighted by Adam Driver as Hannah's borderline-psychotic semiboyfriend, Adam, and Zosia Mamet as her virginal chatterbox friend, Shoshanna. As boundary pushing as "Louie" and as funny as anything else on TV, "Girls" already ranks as one of our favorite comedies. less
