It was a documentary!

Why is this labeled a documentary? It wasn't a documentary...it was a TV Mini Series. Not just any mini, mind you, but one of the best Television events of all time.
ROOTS dramatized a part of America's past that some would rather have not seen and a part of it's long history that the public educational system has whitewashed to the point of propaganda and unrecognizability.
As I write this, the previous night's Emmy Awards paid tribute to this groundbreaking Television event to celebrate it's 30th Anniversary of it's first showing on network television back in January 1977.
It was a tribute that's long overdue and woefully brief.
