Samantho Yes!
November 12, 2007
I have to say it is great to have Christina Applegate back on the air. Her comedic timing and presence is, as always, a pleasure to watch. The premise of the show is refreshing and a welcome change from all the cop shows and dramas currently airing. The fact that it is about relationships and how to mend them is so current for our times even if people don't get it fully.
I am hopefull that the shows writers will eventually see fit for Todd and Samantha to come back together but Sam will need to see she isn't quite ready for that relationship while she is figuring out who she is becoming. I love the old bestfriend Dena who keeps Sam in moral check. The parents are a nice complement to the cast. The issue I have is Jennifer Esposito. She plays the bestfriend in the same manner as she played her character in Related. The cadence (whispery nasal tone) by which she speaks really does not help the dialogue but hurts her credibility as an actor (not a good actor). At least Christina Applegate's efferevesence and stellar acting over rides that actor's flaws when they are in the same scene.
Overall this is a really good show and I hope it stays the duration. Sometimes the best shows get booted because the average viewer doesn't get the complexity of the writing or the acting. If it weren't for Jennifer Esposito, I would give this the 5 star rating. Just my opinion.

Applegate is amazing. She carries the show. And she's surrounded by a great cast. If the writing stays as good as in the pilot, this will be a great show.

One of the top three shows on TV!

"Samantha Who?" has joined "Pushing Daisies" and "Ugly Betty" as the grand triumverate of fresh comedy and tender, non-manipulative frissons of emotion on television. Christina Applegate is a wonder - a light touch w. perfect comic timing and amazing likability (when she's consternated, you really care for her anguish) make her the new Shirley MacLaine. I hope the writing continues to be stellar, w. perhaps more fleshing out of the ancillary (and gifted) supporting players.

Hmmm, not sure yet!

I like Christina Applegate but thought the show was a little on the silly side. I didn't really laugh that much, but I'll probably watch a few more times to be sure.

I liked it, the story is good, the whole concept of it is good, i think they need to work out some kinks, some of the characters are a bit off, they just need to develop their personalities. the acting threw me off a little too, but i will definitely watch it again...over all it is a good show.
