    More Kid stuff!

    July 12, 2007
There is no doubt that what Shaq is doing is wonderful! Everyone needs this. I would love more emphasis on what the kids are doing.
Viewers need to see these kids acually preparing their snacks and meals, doing an actual workout session, not a 3-second clip. Too much air time of Shaq repeating how much harder this is than what he expected, what is going wrong, etc. Show the kids shopping, learning to read labels, preparing snacks/food and taking charge of their lives!

Get those parents on the right track!

    July 14, 2007
I also love this show. The kids are so real and so very courageous to face up to being "the fat kid" on national tv. How many adults would go on a show dedicated to showing their worst flaw or weakness? I would like to see Shaq's team of professionals include a counselor who could help the parents deal with the emotional issues they have regarding food and their kids. For example, why in the hell was James allowed to collect candy while trick or treating?! I can hear it now, "don't deprive him of having fun on Halloween". There are so many options for fun that don't involve *candy* when the kid is overweight and *trying* lose weight! That disaster was totally on the parents. Walter's parents handled it well - get him something as a treat that he loves more than candy (a video game) and let him hand out the candy so he's still involved. (Notice how he had to get up and down our of his seat to go to the door? Genius! He stands up 25 times and walks! Ha!)

The cute little Cuban boy - his family has the attachment to overeating as part of their culture, i.e. it's emotional eating. Anyway, kids this age don't buy their own groceries or drive themselves to the fast food joint. *Parents* allow and encourage this. Parents enable this epidemic. Again, I would love for Shaq's team to address this directly and show families how to confront the issues that lead to childhood obesity. That would be a wonderful gift to these kids and to everyone watching.

I think the show is great!, It has given my teenager more inspiration to lose the weight. Watching the show has given her a visual picture of the dangers of being overweight. Thank You Shaq.
